Milton Crossing

Located along Route 1 South in Milton, Delaware, Milton Crossing is a 2-acre property owned by Sussex County Land Trust. The parcel was generously donated by Pret Dyer and the National Christian Charitable Foundation, supporting the Land Trust’s work to protect and steward land throughout Sussex County.

Milton Crossing is deed-restricted through an agreement with Delaware Department of Transportation, which limits how the property can be used. Because of these restrictions, the site is not developed as a public preserve or trail area.

Instead, the property currently serves as a high-visibility gateway location where the Land Trust can share its mission with the community. A sign installed on the property highlights the Sussex County Land Trust and celebrates the organization’s 25th Anniversary, helping raise awareness about land conservation and the importance of protecting Sussex County’s natural landscapes.

Milton Crossing reflects how even small parcels can play an important role in advancing the Land Trust’s mission—whether through conservation, stewardship, or community awareness.
