At Sussex County Land Trust, we believe that protecting the places that make Sussex County special requires thoughtful planning, strong partnerships, and a clear vision for the future.
Our FY2027–FY2029 Strategic Plan serves as the organization's roadmap, guiding our priorities, investments, and decision-making over the next three years. Developed with input from our Board of Directors and staff, the plan identifies the goals and strategies that will help us fulfill our mission while ensuring the long-term sustainability of the organization.

1. Build Sustainable Revenue & Strategic Partnerships
Develop a diversified and reliable funding base through partnerships, philanthropy, grants, and community support to ensure the long-term sustainability of the organization.
2. Strengthen Organizational Systems, Processes & Staffing
Invest in the people, technology, and operational systems needed to support a growing organization and deliver our mission effectively.
3. Open & Operate Priority Lands for Public Access
Expand opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy protected lands through thoughtfully planned, safe, and well-maintained public access.
4. Grow a Volunteer Stewardship & Community Ambassador Network
Engage volunteers and community ambassadors to care for our preserves, support educational programming, and strengthen community connections to conservation.

As opportunities arise, we will continue to pursue high-value conservation projects that align with our mission while ensuring we have the financial, operational, and stewardship capacity to care for every property entrusted to us.
