Delaware Botanic Gardens Lands

In 2005, the Cannon Tract, totaling 37 acres of tilled ground, upland forest and wetlands along Pepper Creek was purchased for $1.3M using Sussex County Council open space funds, spearheaded by the Sussex County Land Trust.  In 2015, the Sussex County Land Trust was leased to the Delaware Botanic Gardens for $1 per year for 99 years.  A groundbreaking ceremony was held in December 2016 and is now a cultural tourist destination opened to the public.  For additional information,  https://www.delawaregardens.org/our-story
