Ard na Gréine, Irish Gaelic for “the rise that catches the sun,” is one of the last remaining undeveloped tracts in the greater Lewes area. Located adjacent to Ebenezer Branch—which flows into Canary Creek and the Great Marsh—this 88-acre property will soon become a publicly accessible preserve featuring passive recreation trails, native habitat restoration, and a future parking area with access from the Georgetown-Lewes Trail.
The Sussex County Land Trust has secured full funding for the acquisition, with support from federal, state, and county partners, the Longwood Foundation, and generous private donors. The property is set to go to settlement in October 2025, marking a major milestone in the ongoing effort to preserve open space and natural resources in one of Delaware’s fastest-growing regions.
